Pre-Marital Counseling

The months before your marriage are an excellent time to discover any miscommunications between you and improve upon them.

This questionaire is designed for couples to start an open dialog of communication before they get married. As the two of you discuss the following questions, you may be surprised at how each of you answer some of the questions.

Communications Questionaire

Answer the following questions to determine if your relationship could use some strengthening.

1. When you’re upset or angry about something your partner does or fails to do, do you find it easy to tell her/him about it?

2. Can you reveal your weaknesses and worries to your partner without fear of embarrassment, criticism or judgment?

3. Do you check with each other about money concerns that affect both of you? When it comes to finances, do you usually agree on what to spend your money on?

4. Do you believe that your partner understands the importance of the work that you do and respects the time you need to do it?

5. Do you discuss important decisions and the impact they will have on both of you?

6. Are your needs for intimacy met regularly?

7. Do you find that agreements you've made can be altered without huge upset?

If you do not respond yes to most of the questions, you need to focus on communicating your needs to your partner in a way that he or she can hear you.

Telling your partner you wish to discuss something, setting aside time to talk calmly and without blame, and taking responsibility for the problems that are yours, are steps that if used consistently, will help you build a strong relationship.
